THE SIGHT SURGERY

Chalazion Procedure

If you have a chalazion (a cyst or lump on the eyelid) or other lid lumps that are bothersome, persistent, or causing discomfort, Sight Surgery Ltd offers safe and effective removal and treatment options. Most eyelid lumps, such as chalazia or cysts, can be removed in a straightforward procedure performed under local anaesthetic, usually taking about 15–20 minutes. The area around your eye will be numbed, and a small incision is made—typically on the inside of the eyelid—to drain or remove the lump, minimising the risk of visible scarring. After the procedure, you’ll receive antibiotic ointment or drops to prevent infection, and you may need to wear an eye pad for a short period. Mild swelling or bruising is normal and usually settles within a few days; simple pain relief and cold compresses can help with any discomfort. Most patients can return to their normal activities quickly, but you should avoid rubbing your eyes, wearing contact lenses, or applying makeup for a short time after surgery. If you have recurring lumps, a biopsy may be performed to rule out any underlying conditions. Our specialists are here to guide you through every step, from initial assessment to aftercare, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience. Tap here to find out more or to book your consultation.
