Specialist Ophthalmic Consultancy in Buckinghamshire
The Sight Surgery is a private clinic run by professional consultant ophthalmologists, Mike Adams and Sarah Maling. With extensive experience working for NHS Trusts We have set up in accessible, modern facilities in Buckinghamshire. When resolving eye complaints is a priority, our specialist clinic provides a range of consultancy and procedures to help restore the clarity of your vision.
What can you Expect from The Sight Surgery?
During your appointment with a consultant ophthalmic surgeon, a thorough assessment of the eyes will be undertaken. With a clear diagnosis, they will recommend appropriate treatments.
Your eyes are complex optical systems, which are relied on throughout the day. If you have been experiencing problems, such as blurred vision, flashes of light, watery eyes, inflammation, sensitivity to light or changes to the way you view colour, The Sight Surgery can help restore visual clarity.
Cataract Procedure
Cataract surgery is commonest operation done as an outpatient procedure in the NHS. Mr Adams and Miss Maling co-lead the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust Cataract Service which this year 2021 is the most productive Cataract Service in the country. Mr Adams and Miss Maling both have training in all aspects of cataract surgery including multifocal lenses, extended range of focus lenses, mono-focal lenses and paediatric cataract surgery.
Strabismus
Mrs Maling understands how debilitating adult strabismus surgery is. Patients often tolerate a squint or double vision as they do not think it can be improved. Often a single short operation will resolve a patients issues long term.
Corneal Erosion Syndrome
Recurrent corneal erosion syndrome (RCES) occurs when the corneal epithelium – the surface layer of the cornea – fails to
bind properly to the layer underneath it. Initial treatment is to keep the eye lubricated, with drops or gel in the daytime and thicker ointment at bedtime. This protects the healing epithelium from the rubbing effect of the upper lid, and allows it to ‘bed down’ properly.
For those cases that fail to resolve, alcohol delamination and superficial keratectomy is the process of using ethanol to remove all the corneal epithelium, and then smoothing the underlying layer. It is performed in the operating theatre, usually under local anaesthetic. At the end of the procedure a bandage contact lens is left on the cornea to protect the eye and reduce post-operative discomfort.

I am very short-sighted and also have glaucoma in both eyes. But of late, cataracts had become my vision limiting problems. The net result of the two operations has been life-changing for me. I had worn spectacles to correct for my myopia for 70 years, but now, I was able to read the bottom line of the eye test chart!
My Cataract surgery was in the morning of the 27th of April and you were all amazing and put me at ease. You did an amazing job. Well done and many thanks.
Many thanks for all your expertise and kindness which is much appreciated. It was one of my best experiences of the NHS. With best wishes,
